Cocktail Table Arcade Machines
The Cocktail Table is a form of arcade cabinet that is unique to the traditional upright cabinet style. Cocktails tables were popular in the golden age of the arcades, the 1980's. These cabinets are much smaller and feature a flat screen underneath the glass, in which the player looks down upon, as opposed to the eye level screens of the upright cabinets.
The main advantage of the Cocktail arcade game, and the reason for its resent surge in popularity, is its size. These machines take up far less space then its counterparts, allowing more people to own them that wouldn't have had the space for a full sized arcade machine. The Cocktail arcade is perfect machine for an apartment or smaller house.
The machines come it a couple different forms and variations. The typical Cocktail table is a two-player machine, in which the screen switches as the player turn changes, allowing for each viewer to view the screen properly. There are also 4-player cabinet available, but they are usually for specific games. Some of the most popular games are of course the normal arcade classics like Pac-man, Galaga, Donkey Kong, and so on.
But what you will see in online auctions, is something called the Multicade Cocktail Arcade games. These Mulitcades feature a number of games all on the same machine, which is also way more space friendly than owning a bunch of machines. So the Multicade Cocktail Table is perfect for someone with little space and loves the feel of a real arcade machine, and wants to experience it at home with friends.
